Material Issue ‎– International Pop Overthrow

This is, without a doubt, one of the all-time classic "Power Pop" albums. Jim Ellison was one the greatest song writers of the late 80\'s and early 90\'s, and his band rocked big time. With influences ranging from the Raspberries, Cheap Trick, the Jam, Beatles, the Sweet, and Thin Lizzy. This album, the band\'s debut, is one pop hit after another, with killer rock tunes like "Diane", "Crazy", "Valerie Loves Me", and the amazing ballad "A Very Good Idea".

I said in an earlier post that for the past few months I have been re-organizing and checking my vinyl collection to see what\'s there that I have not ripped. I found and ripped a lot of 7\'\' singles and some LPs I did not even remember I had them! At the end of the day with songs I found on external hard drive, I figured I have enough songs to put out another Rare Hits of The 80s installment.

Anyhow for those who were mourning the death of this series, this constitutes some sort of resurrection! There’s load of cool songs and lots of synth! I have also thrown in the song ” On The Roof“,infamously known as “Stay The Second Time Around” that had haunted everyone as obscure as it could remain for 17 years.

Enjoy and seed.

Here’s part 20 of this very popular series. Enjoy and seed! If you’re new to this style, here’s a useful write up. Mainly characterized by minimal musical structures, the sound of Minimal Wave was hallmarked by the use of the analog synthesizers and drum machines that were manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s by Roland, Korg, Yamaha, ARP, Linn, Oberheim, Moog and Sequential Circuits (to name a few). Most of the Minimal Wave bands recorded in their home studios and created their own album artwork, which naturally paved the way for a D.I.Y. aesthetic to emerge. Generally, the musicians were influenced by avant-garde movements such as futurism and constructivism as well as by the literature of science fiction and existentialism. They had an innovative, unique approach to music-making, which was less polished than the music that appeared on mainstream charts during the same time period. The Minimal Wave genre actually formed only several years ago, as a result of a resurgence of interest in the roots of pre-MIDI electronic New Wave (1978-1985), mainly from North America, Europe and Japan. This music is sometimes referred to as Minimal Electronic, Minimal Synth, Cold Wave, New Wave, Techno pop, or Synthpop, depending on the particular style, year, and location of the band. Many of these bands released their music in small batches on cassette or vinyl, and distributed it themselves. This is What I Call Minimal 80s! Vol 20 Track listing: 01 Famous Rays - The Sky Belongs To The Sun/Hard Times 02 Second Glance - Tomorrow 03 Shox Lumania - Signals 04 Circuit 7 - The Force 05 Shinobu - Ceramic Love 06 The Sensational Creed - Nocturnal Operations 07 Logic System - Talk Back 08 Vice Versa - New Girls Neutrons 09 Sally Patience - The Triangle Man 10 Mekanik Kommando - Stop And Play 11 The Higher Primates - Living In A Vacuum 12 Solitaire - After Darkness 13 Xex - Fun In The Sun 14 Broken Silence - Through The Glass 15 Occidental White - Progress Through Research 16 Somnambulist - Things I Was Due to Forget 17 Ministry - Same Old Madness 18 Hedone - Sensible 19 Berlin Blondes - Neon Probe 20 Perfect Jewish Couple - Nuclear Blues 21 Barnes & Barnes - Cemetery Girls 22 Martin Dupont - It\'s So 23 Glad Corp - Alone 24 What If Thinking - Run, Run, Run 25 The Peridots - No Water 26 Iko - Radioactive Mist 27 Product One - It Hurts Me To Remember 28 Company Of State - Here As I Am

For some time I had been asked in a few other forums/torrent sites if I could put all volumes of this compilations in one torrent as apparently older torrents are often dead with no seeders. So I finally had a chance to do so and will be seeding this torrent for some time until I have another HD crash! So please help seeding them for the others to discover and experiment this different style of music. Now what was minimal/synth music? "Mainly characterized by minimal musical structures, the sound of Minimal Wave was hallmarked by the use of the analog synthesizers and drum machines that were manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s by Roland, Korg, Yamaha, ARP, Linn, Oberheim, Moog and Sequential Circuits (to name a few). It\'s time we discovered some more fantastic music from our beloved decade, some you might have heard and some totally new to you. I gotta say, vol. 66 is the darkest of all in this installments. You know by now that I have a penchant for diversity when doing these mixes, but I gotta say on vol. 66 the focus is almost entirely on goth wave, dark wave and post-punk music. These artists and bands largely remained in obscurity, nonetheless produced some of the finest music of the 80\'s. I think you\'d be enthralled with this one. Tracklisting: 1 Bushido - A Question Of Identity (From Deliverance mini LP – 1985) 2 Gentlemen In War - White Windows (From White Windows LP – 1989) 3 Corps Diplomatique - Generations (From This Can\'t Be Heaven LP – 1987) 4 Calendar Crowd - Questions Answers (From Listen In To The Heart Single – 1985) 5 Intimate Obsessions - Assassin (From Assassin EP – 1985) 6 Demars - Even For All Those Years (From 1983 EP Stories From Between The Walls) 7 Eleven Pond - Turn To Silence (From Assemblage LP – 1987) 8 They Fade In Silence - Won\'t Let Know (From Traveller - What Have You Seen LP 1987) 9 End Of Data - If I\'m Not A Killer (From Sahrah LP – 1984) 10 Remain In Silence - Roses On My Dying Bed (From This Is The Place Where Resistance Got Lost LP – 1987) 11 Quite Simple - Unknown Strangers – (From 1989 LP, Unknown Strangers) 12 Big Self - Don\'t Turn Around (From 1985 LP Stateless) 13 Lung Overcoat – When Dreams Drag On (From 1986 EP Climbing Up The Hill) 14 Zero Le Creche – Beyond Westworld (1985 7\'\' Single) 15 DADA – As The Sun Races By (From 1988 EP Right Man Tell Lies) 16 Idle Lovell – Only (From 1984 LP Surge Et Illuminare) 17 Mary Goes Round – Mary Sleeps Alone (From 1989 LP Sunset) 18 Wire Train – Like (From 1984 LP In A Chamber) 19 Dorian Grae – Talking With Grace (From 1987 Maxi Single Dorian Grae) 20 Ego Loop – Pathless Nothing (From 1988 LP Nothingness) 21 Necropolis Of Love – Done And Gone (From 1984 mini LP The Hope) 22 The N.U.E – Broken Window (From 1982 Mini LP Two Gether) 23 Deafear - Fear Of Tears (From Stairs Mini-LP – 1983) 24 Jung Analysts – Entrails (From 1987 VA LP – For Your Ears Only) 25 Lowlife – Eternity Road (From 1987 12\'\' Single - Eternity Road) 26 In Search Of Beauty – Love Is Colder Than Dead (From The Arise Mini-LP, Released Date Unknown) 27 Calculated X – Dream Affair (From 1982 Single Four Windows 28 Aus Decline – Fluxion (From 2014 re-issuse LP, Originally recorded in 1982) 29 Day After – Ticking Away (From 1983 Mini-LP, Recourse) 30 Dark White – Article of Life (From 1985 Mini-LP, The Grey Area)

By request, all 16 volumes in one folder. Hopefully this will remain seeded. For those who are new to this series, they are home-made unofficial comps, released on CDrs, by a group of music lovers (mostly Germans I think) who loved this style. Each contributed to the series from their decent collection of obscure vinyls.

For your listening pleasure this week we have another batch of 80’s records that have sort of slipped under the radar of most of the fans of the decade. At this point I am a bit surprised when a good record continues to slip under the radar over a decade after file sharing became the de rigueur way to hear new sounds. Hopefully this series brings back more forgotten bands back to life. The best way to thank the uploader is to keep seeding as long as you can. By the way my apologies as I skipped vol. 149 before posting vol. 150, just in case you can’t locate vol. 149! For your listening pleasure, here is yet another batch of 80s albums that have sort of slipped under the radar of most of the 80s die-hard fans. Obscure, rare and unheard of but at the same time fantastic reminders of all the musical creativity that was going on in the early 80s. I gotta say I was damn lucky to have experienced it personally as a youngster.

One thing which is common about all these four records is that they are sold for crazy prices, of course should you come across a copy. So hopefully they can now be crossed off someone’s wish list! Enjoy!!

I have got quite a few messages by e-mail asking if part 20 was the last in this series. The answer is NO.
As I go through my records and my mp3 collections, there will be a new instalment if I come across enough songs that fit these mixes. So here’s part 21 that features many cool minimal/dark wave tunes. Enjoy responsibly and seed! If you’re new to this style or wondering what the heck is minimal wave, here’s a useful write up:

For your listening pleasure and to get to know a few more forgotten or obscure 80s bands, here’s part 68 of this beloved series. You’ll notice a difference on this volume though; most songs are quirky new wave and 80s funk or cool power pop and MOD. You might ask yourself what the heck is going on here? Okay, it’s to celebrate 7th year anniversary of my uploads on the torrent universe (to be specific on pirate bay). Yes 7 years ago this day I started this crazy thing of sharing music with the world. A kind of madness that got a hold of me somehow! Anyways, I think a lot was achieved and many forgotten bands found a new audience. So relax and enjoy this ultra happy mix of cool 80s tunes. Here’s to the next 7 years!
